Kid's Bible Resources | Lesson 1 – Bible Story
1.

1.

The Bible tells us that in six days God created the heavens and the earth and all that is in them, including mankind. Everything that He made was very good. The first man was named Adam and his wife was named Eve.
2.

2.

God placed Adam into a garden called Eden. This garden was filled with fruit trees that supplied Adam and Eve with plenty of food to eat. There were two special trees in the middle of the garden; the Tree of Life and the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. God told Adam that he could eat of all the trees in the garden except for the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. God warned that if he ate of that tree, he would die.
3.

3.

One day the Devil came to Eve in the form of Serpent and deceived her. He lied and told her that she would not die if she ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, but instead promised that she would become as a god. Eve listened to the Devil, and was convinced that what he said was true. She ate the forbidden fruit and then gave some to Adam, and he ate. They sinned against God. Sin is when we disobey God, and the result of sin is always death -- exactly as God says.
4.

4.

Because of their sin, they were cursed. Adam and Eve were cast out of Eden and separated from God. As God cursed the serpent, He made a wonderful promise. This was a promise of hope that one of Eve’s “seed” or descendants, would defeat the serpent. This One who would be born would bring salvation. He would save mankind from sin and bring them back into fellowship with God. This promise was an announcement of the birth of the Savior.
5.

5.

Many years later, God told a man named Abram that,“in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.” God promised that this blessing would come through the son born to him and his wife, Sarah. That son’s name was Isaac. Isaac had a son named Jacob and Jacob had a son named Judah. Jacob prophesied that through Judah’s family would come the promised Savior.
6.

6.

Ten generations later, one of Judah’s descendants received a promise from God. This man was King David. God promised that one of David’s descendants would be the Savior and King forever.
7.

7.

God spoke through a man named Isaiah saying, “The Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.”  Immanuel means, “God with us.”  The Savior would be born as a man, but He would actually be God coming down to us.
8.

8.

Many years later, the angel Gabriel appeared to a virgin named Mary. She was a descendant of Eve, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Judah, and David. The angel told her that she would give birth to the Son of God. Gabriel also appeared to Mary’s future husband and told him,  “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.”

9.

Jesus was born in the city of Bethlehem and cradled in a manger. JESUS IS THE SAVIOR WHOSE BIRTH WAS ANNOUNCED!
