Kid's Bible Resources | Lesson 3 – Bible Story
1.

1.

The promised Savior came when God himself took on flesh and became a human being. He lived a sinless life. He was tempted to sin, but He never gave in. Jesus always did what was right.
2.

2.

After the temptations in the wilderness, Jesus went preaching and teaching God’s truth. He performed many miracles. He turned water into wine, healed those who were sick, raised dead people back to life, miraculously fed thousands, walked on water, and calmed the winds and waves with a word. His words and actions were powerful.
3.

3.

Jesus chose twelve men to follow Him. These men were called Apostles. One day, Jesus told His Apostles, “Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death,  And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify [him]: and the third day he shall rise again.”
4.

4.

The Apostles didn’t understand what Jesus was talking about. They believed that Jesus was the Savior, but did not know why He would be talking about betrayal and death. The Apostles did not understand that Jesus had come to save mankind from sin. The plan of God was to save mankind from sin by providing a substitute. A substitute is a person who takes the place of another.
5.

5.

Jesus came to be our substitute. Speaking of His life, He said, “No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself.” Jesus willingly laid down His life in order to pay the penalty for the sins of the world.
6.

6.

It happened just as Jesus had said. He was betrayed, arrested and turned over to the Romans. They mocked and beat Him and then took Him to a hill called Golgotha. There they nailed Him to a cross between two criminals. As Jesus died the slow death of crucifixion, He cried out, “It is finished.” Jesus had taken upon Himself the sin and guilt of the world as the perfect substitute. He tasted death for every man.

7.

“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” - Isaiah 53:5 JESUS IS THE SAVIOR WHO DIED ON THE CROSS!
